New Interpretation of Home Inspectors Supervising Associates
At the recent NCHILB meeting held in Concord, NC March 27, 2008 in conjunction with the NCLHIA Annual Meeting and Education Conference the licensure board unanimously adopted a new interpretation of Home Inspectors Supervising Associates. To “actively supervise” an associate the supervising inspector will not be required to be in the presence of the associate home inspector throughout the training period. A new interpretation letter is expected to be posted on the NCHILB web site soon outlining this new interpretation.

NCHILB - Standard Report Format Committee Stalled
There was no report given to the NCHILB from the Standard Report Format Committee at the recent board meeting in Concord, NC. At the end of the NCHILB meeting during the public comment session, Sergi Worrell from NCLHIA asked for the status of the Standard Format Report. NCHILB Chairman, Gerald Canipe, responded with: ‘no report at this time’ (not sure of exact quote). NCLHIA members have been actively participating on the NCHILB Standard Report Format Committee and will continue to do so if and when the committee is reconvened.

Probings Wins a Design Award

Probings, the NCLHIA's quarterly newsletter, recently won a 2007 American Inhouse Design Awards certificate of excellence from GD USA, a news magazine for creative professionals.

First Point Management Resources provides design work for the association, and last summer redesigned Probings, making it more interesting and reader-friendly. Laura Comer and Pat Motsavage are the designers. They also won six other excellence awards for other First Point clients.

The 2007 American Inhouse Design Awards, is recognized as a premier showcase for inhouse design.

Over 4000 publications were submitted, and only 500 certificates of excellence were awarded.

The competition encompasses inhouse designers and teams within corporations, media companies, non-profits, educational and government institutions. The purpose: to provide much deserved recognition for inhouse designers to colleagues, clients and upper management.
